# Blog and reviews

Use the blog as a review section, with scores, the reviewed record and editorial feeds.

The blog doubles as a review section. Create these article metafield definitions in **Settings > Custom data > Blog posts**:

| Metafield | Type | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `custom.review_score` | decimal | The score, such as 8.4. Shown large on the article and in the product page Review block. |
| `custom.review_product` | product reference | The record being reviewed. Story cards get a price and add to cart button, and the product page Review block finds the review. |
| `custom.featured_products` | list of product references | Products shown in Shop this story on the article. |

Tag an article **Best New Music** to give it the badge. On the product, an article reference in `custom.review` picks a specific review. Otherwise the newest of the last 50 articles in the chosen blog that reviews this product is used.

## Blog sections

* **Blog posts** (blog page): magazine, grid or list layout, stories per page, topic links and summaries.
* **Blog post** (article page): drop cap, image caption, share links, the blog's topic bar and more stories from the same topic.
* **Story feed** (any page): one feed built from up to three blogs, newest first, filtered with **Only posts tagged** and **Leave out posts tagged**. Layouts: lead story and list, magazine, hero, mosaic, grid, scrolling row, numbered list, review covers and topic columns. Turn on **Show buy button on reviews** to sell the reviewed record from the card.

## Writers page

Every byline links to a page listing that writer's stories. Create a page with the **author** template (or the handle `authors`) and pick it in **Theme settings > Blog > Author page**. With no writer picked, the page lists every writer and their story count. Photos and bios come from the writer's staff account.
